The Method

Pain to Performance applies the McGill Method assessment and rehabilitation approach: a rigorous, evidence-based, patient-centered process used to identify the mechanical signature of a person’s pain — specific movements, postures, and loading patterns that provoke symptoms — then replace them with a sustainable strategy that removes the primary trigger, restores tolerance, and rebuilds capacity.

"Our approach is converging on a causal mechanism without prejudice. We do not assess based on a single school of thought or practice."

What it looks like in real life

If back pain flares with certain tasks—sitting, bending, lifting, training, long workdays—those patterns usually aren’t random. The goal is to identify the specific triggers, reduce sensitivity, and rebuild the ability to live and train without paying for it later.

This is not passive care. It’s a coached process.

The McGill Method, assessment-driven, tolerance-based progression

The approach is built around:

  • Finding the trigger (what reliably provokes symptoms)

  • Removing the provoking input (spine-sparing movement strategies and daily “spine hygiene”)

  • Building capacity (walking dosage + endurance/stability progressions + graded re-loading)

3

Not Passive Care. Not random exercise. A coached process.

This work is hands-on, specific, and iterative. You’ll leave with:

  • A clear understanding of what is driving your symptoms

  • A practical “do this / don’t do this” set of strategies you can use immediately

  • A progression that rebuilds tolerance without gambling on flare-ups

  • Coaching and refinement based on real-world feedback (not guesswork)

4

Why people get stuck (and what we do instead)

Most people improve briefly and then flare again because:

  • Triggers creep back into daily life without you noticing.

  • Training resumes too aggressively.

  • Movement quality breaks down under fatigue and stress.

  • The plan isn’t adjusted to real-world tolerance.

Our solution: A strategy built on precise assessment, clear progression, and tracked accountability—designed to hold up when life is busy—then progressively loaded until your durability matches your confidence again.
